Employees Ignoring their Stress at Work Workplace
Employees are feeling more stressed at work, but are not taking action to
help themselves, according to ComPsych Corporation.
Employees were polled on how they manage their wellness on the job, avoiding
stress and burnout. The majority of employees (44 percent) said that they don't,
but that they realize they should.
"Despite productivity increases, employees are feeling more stress. Due to
the softened economy and corporate restructurings, workers are focusing all
their efforts on being productive and doing more with less. In turn, they are
taking their well-being for granted," said Dr. Richard Chaifetz, . "By failing
to take time out of their busy day to decompress, employees are running the risk
of burnout."
"Savvy employers don't ignore the fact that their employees may be
overlooking the need to take a breather," added Chaifetz. "Instead they provide
the resources necessary for employees to improve their work lives, such as
employee assistance programs and work-life services. By putting this critical
support in place these employers are improving productivity and reducing
absenteeism."
