Plant Description
This perennial shrub grows up 3 to 4 feet high. It has pointed leaves,
serrated at the edges and small, pink flowers.
Aromatherapy use:
Geranium essential oil is a balancing oil for the mind and body. The
balancing action of Geranium is due to its stimulating effect on the adrenal
cortex. This helps to balance hormones secreted by the various glands. Geranium
essential oil should be effective for all conditions where a hormone imbalance
is creating a problem. It has been used successfully in the treatment of
urinary tract disorders and to relieve premenstrual tension. A fresh,
floral and sweet smelling essential oil it relaxes, restores and maintains
stability of the emotions. Geranium essential oil is an astringent oil which is
excellent for all skin types. It is used in skin care products for both its
fragrance and cleansing properties. Geranium essential oil is a useful insect
repellent. It has been recommended for massage where there is cellulite.
