Herbal Concept
pillows provide a moist heat pack to relieve muscle tension and the effects of
repetitive motion. As tissues relax, circulation is improved. Gentle heat
promotes healing after surgery.
When heated,
Herbal Concept Pillows
retain half their heat after an hour. At that point 1 or 2 minutes more in the
microwave will bring back full warmth. This can be done over and over throughout
the day. In your covers, it will still be warm the next morning.
Herbal Concept
Pillows
are like a warm, unconditional hug, promoting good feelings and a sense of well
being which, in turn, aids mental and physical health. They have a calming
effect on hyperactivity, especially in children.

Herbal Concept
Pillows
appeal to the senses. You feel the warmth and softness of the fabric and the way
the flax seeds slide and glide. Your eyes enjoy the rich colors and beautiful
patterns. The smell of the flax is soothing and with a the relaxing and healing
herbs blended into the seed, you have a wide range of aroma therapy benefits --
eucalyptus for congestion, lavender for relaxation and other aromas..
Flaxseed poultice was
commonly used in earlier days to draw out infection and inflammation by steaming
or boiling the seeds and making a compress for ailing tissues.
Theses flaxseed
and grain pillows can
also be chilled for a soft and soothing cold pack. They cool a sunburn, fever,
hot flashes or inflammation. Freeze in a freezer container or double plastic.

In
the Case of Muscle Injury
Cold
Versus Heat
Determine
whether to use cold versus heat by keeping in mind the
condition of the involved tissues.
Cold.
Ice numbs the
area, reducing pain. It also constricts blood vessels,
limiting blood supply to the injured site. This action
decreases swelling. Ice can also decrease muscle spasms.
If an area is painful to move or swells after exercise,
use ice. The best way to use ice is to apply a pack to
the painful area for approximately 15 minutes every two
hours following an injury. For general irritation, use an
ice pack two or three times a day. If the cold is too
intense, use a towel between the ice pack and your skin.
Heat.
If an injury is in a more advanced stage of healing
usually after four or five days heat is recommended.
Again, keep in mind what heat does to an area. Heat
increases local blood supply, bringing healing cells to
the area and potentially relaxing tight muscles. Use
moist, hot towels or microwavable heat packs for no more
than 10 to 15 minutes several times a day. If the heat
becomes too intense, put a towel or piece of clothing
between the heat source and your skin. Never sleep on a
heating pad.
